Republic of China Air Force Military Band

The Air Force Band, which founded in 1935, is one of the most important bands of the Republic of China (Taiwan).  Besides participating in many important national festivals and missions of military rites, the Air Force Band has improved its ability of performing music by holding public concerts in order to propagate the music of arts to the public and to increase the chance of communication between soldiers and civilians. The Air Force Band has been invited to perfrom concerts by varied concert halls in Taiwan and received warm response.

Through the cultivation of previous high officials and seniors, the Air Force Band has overcome the stereotype of performing marches solely and interpreted diversified music styles of full maturity.  By encouraging the members of the band, varied ensembles have been formed to meet the needs of different missions to create the distillation of transformation and integration which follows new trends of the age.

It is a great honor for us to join “Musikschau der nationen 2009”. The Air Force Band, consisting of 50 members, features a variety of eastern music with lion dance accompaniment to show positive, passionate, brave and perseverance of Taiwanese. We hope that it can acquire the audience’s communication and acknowledgment one another by different styles of eastern and western music through this meaningful international charity activity.

Conductor   Chih-Chieh Liu

Liu served at Air Force Band since 1990. He has attended several times of National Day parade. He was once represented to go to French to join "The 17th Military Tattoo" and join “Musikschau der nationen 2009” in German. He is urgent to seize every chance to learn about music. Moreover, He also makes effort on promoting wind band culture to the school activity. Now he served at Sergeant Major in Air Force Band.
