ChungHsin School Wind Symphony
ChungHsin School Wind Symphony was founded in September, 2003. Dr. T.C. Kao selected the flag for the ChungHsin School Wind Symphony and named it ChungHsin School Wind Symphony, Taiwan.
ChungHsin School Wind Symphony consists of enthusiastic students for wind band and music, selected among the best of the school. The central idea is to promote the spirit of being optimistic, progressive, and modest. The 55 students stated, “It is 2013, the 42nd birthday of our school, SMO is formed and we solemnly swear from now on, we will have a proud name, ChungHsin School Wind Symphony. In the Misty Great territory resonate our trumpets. On the Snow-covered Ferry is inscribed our name. We shall reinforce the idea, or spirit, of ChungHsin School Wind Symphony. We form a team now, and we make it last. We play the music of CHHS history and we sweat on each chapters.”
SMO currentlyChungHsin School Wind Symphonyappointed as a consultant teacher Yeshu Han, and its has a membership of 115 students. The conductor, also the instructor, is Wei-Fan Chen. The other instructors are Li- Chen Xu, Hao-Xuan Huang, Zhong-Hu Huang, Chong-Ren Fang,Zi-Min Xu, Yun- Zhen Xu, Nian-Jie Chen,Jun-Zhi Yang,Shu-Han Xu,You-Ying Liu,andTomo kunita. The following are their noted performances so far.
Conductor WEI-FAN CHEN
Chen started learning Euphonium from Jhih-Sun Chen(Hongknogest, the candidate of PhD of BU)after entering Senior High School. He started to study the trombone fromKuang-Ching Sung, National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan Principal Trombonist, and the bass trombonist Syu-Ming WANG in 1999.In 2000, Chen entered the Department of Music at Soochow University as a transfer student, majoring in trombone; he studied music under Li-Zong Jhang and Kuang-Ching Sung and participated in many concerts.
Chen is now the bass trombonist and Euphoniumist of National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Wind Ensemble, Taipei Wind Orchestra and Symphonic Band. In 2010, Chenentered the Graduate school of Music at National Taiwan Normal University, studying conducting under Professor Shu Han Yeh, and becoming the assistant conductor.
