Hamamatsu Uminohoshi High School
Hamamatsu Uminohoshi High School is located in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is a Catholic mission school. This is a girls school founded in 1956.
We have about 400 students and our wind orchestra is the largest club in our school. we have about 80 members in it. These days we have done many remarkable performances and we almost won in the all national competitions named “All Japan Band Competition,” “All Japan Ensemble Competition,” “All Japan High School Band Competition in Yokohama,” “the Japan and Orchestra and ensemble competition,” the Central Japan Band Competition.” Also, we have praised about playing Pops and Jazz music. Especially we have got three successive victories in Pops and Jazz band Grand Prix. And we think it important to play at concerts and participate in parades in region as well as the competitions, without choosing particular genre. In “Band Restoration” which is a concert where junior and high school students play music which composers first make for the students, we select the most difficult music to play every year.
The efforts have been valued and we were requested to be on TV named “The Concert with No Name ”
